Role of insecurity in staggering number of women in Nigerian politics

The more insecurity in the nation, the more difficult it is for women in politics.

The female gender is often pushed aside when it comes to matters that concern leadership policies and political decisions of the country. The cycle of elections in Nigeria is often accompanied by Violence and loss of lives and properties. The report by the EU election observation mission Nigeria 2023 speculates that the election was marred by orchestrated violence widely assessed by stakeholders to have been strategically used to subvert the process and manipulate the elections and representation of women in society. This story highlights how insecurity affects the participation of women in politics.
