Women at the party level of politics have been seen to be novices, lacking political capital and a competitive advantage!
This audio feature explores the challenges women face at their parties from seeking elective positions and brings out the solutions to boost more representation of women.
Women made up only 10 per cent of our over 15,000 candidates in the just concluded 2023 Nigerian election cycle representing 18 political parties. At the federal level, women made up 9 per cent of all candidates, this included the race for president, house of representatives and the Senate, while at the state level, women constituted 11 per cent of all candidates running for governor and state houses of assembly.
