Creating an African with high survival rate in Breast Cancer 

October is breast cancer awareness month and it has been established by a research that. Every year breast cancer claims more than 650,000 lives worldwide.

However, Survival rates have been recorded to be as high as 90% in high income countries. In sub-Saharan Africa the rate is less than 40%.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie set to release her first novel in 10 years

The award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie, has announced her latest novel, marking the end of a 10-year wait for her many devoted readers.

The Novel which is titled Dream Count is scheduled for release on 3 March 2025. This highly anticipated new work will be published in the UK and the Commonwealth by 4th Estate, and in the US and Canada by Knopf.

78 people drowned after a boat capsized in Democratic Republic of Congo

At least 78 people drowned when a boat carrying 278 passengers capsized in Lake Kivu in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday, a provincial governor said.

Governor Jean Jacques Purisi said to Reuters“It’ll take at least three days to get the exact numbers, because not all the bodies have been found yet,” Governor Jean Jacques Purisi told Reuters

Ghanaian protest against Galamsey Illegal Mining 

Galamsey, as it’s known locally, can also include large mining firms operating against the law. It is carried out by Ghanaians and foreigners, including Chinese and West African nationals from Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire. The Africa Defense Forum military magazine reports that from 2008 to 2013, over 50 000 Chinese entered the country to mine gold illegally.

Ghanaians at home and in diaspora embarked on a three day protest against the illegal mining causing havoc to the environment.

15 women killed in a mass shooting in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape 

The shootings took place on Friday night in Lusikisiki, in the Eastern Cape province. Video footage released by police showed the shootings occurred at two houses in a collection of rural houses on the outskirts of the town.
